Small Batch Freezer Beef

Our Beef
Beef is part of the backbone of our country. These days, people have a greater desire to know where their meat comes from, and we are happy to show them.
Here at Douglas Cattle, we value providing a wholesome, premium product to our consumers. We not only pride ourselves on the quality of our beef but also on the full transparency of the product.
Small Batch
The most we have ever fed out at one time was 6 steers, ranch-raised—born and fed on the same piece of land.
Premium
Dry-aged for 14-21 days and vacuum-sealed.
The flavor, tenderness, and quality are excellent.
Information
We provide birth weights, vaccination dates, weaning dates, weights throughout their life, genetic backgrounds, and carcass data—just a bit of the information our customers have access to.
Limited Exchange
These steers travel only once—just to the processor—and from there, either to our freezer for farm pick-up or directly to the customer's freezer if they choose to pick up from the processor.

Our Process
Our beef steers are born and raised on our ranch. That way, we ensure the end product is the highest quality possible. We observe these steers daily and care for them for the rest of their lives. You can count on one hand the number of people involved in their care. We are very hands-on and passionate about their growth.

We only have one part-time employee who is also balancing studies at the University of Florida. The feed company we use is run by one man who handles the ordering and delivery. This feed is not something you can buy off the shelf at Tractor Supply; it’s a proprietary blend that he sells to us. We also have an excellent relationship with our amazing vet, who is a sole proprietor and always manages to be there for us when we need him. Our team is truly an amazing blessing.

As calves, they receive their calfhood vaccines to protect against painful and deadly diseases. They are humanely castrated and weaned using a low-stress method to minimize anxiety. They are weighed frequently throughout their lives to assess weight gain and ensure only the best steers are being used in our beef program. While on their finishing ration, they also receive ultrasound carcass scanning to identify the quality grade of the beef and provide data that helps us improve future genetics.

Our ranch-raised beef receives the best care possible throughout their entire lives. During the winter, they are fed high-energy forages such as oats or cereal rye, and in the summer, they graze on iron clay peas and pearl millet to maximize weight gain in a hands-off, natural setting. During their short finishing time, they are hand-fed calculated portions of custom, freshly mixed feed, along with full access to grass, hay, fresh water, and minerals. They remain on their finishing ration for 90-110 days, with the target being 95 days.

They are never in a feedlot setting, unlike larger-scale producers who also label their beef as "ranch-raised." While their beef may be local and raised on a ranch, it is not the same type of product as what we sell. Our steers are raised with personal attention and not in a feedlot environment.

If you are looking for high-quality beef, it is important that your beef is dry-aged. Dry aging breaks down the muscle fibers and enhances the beef’s flavor, resulting in a more tender, flavorful eating experience. Our butcher ensures that our beef is dry-aged for 14-21 days to guarantee the best flavor and tenderness.
